Ex-Midland ISD cop sentenced in child sex assault
MIDLAND A former Midland Independent School District police officer was sentenced Monday morning to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to having sex with a female student multiple times.
Angel Ramirez, now 32, was sentenced for three counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child. All charges were second-degree felonies and hold punishments of two to 20 years in prison.
Court documents claimed Ramirez had sexual encounters with a 14-year-old female student from Goddard Junior High School between Dec. 20, 2008 and Jan. 24, 2009, at a north Midland residence.
Midland police arrested Ramirez on Feb. 4, 2009, on one charge of sexual assault of a child. He bonded out of the Midland County Jail the next day on a $100,000 bond.
Ramirez was indicted by a grand jury last year on eight felony counts: three for sexual assault of a child, four for improper relations between an educator and student and one for indecency with a child.
