Two arrested in burglary

Two Odessa 17-year-olds were arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation Wednesday in connection with an Aug. 10 burglary.

Ryan Earl Davis, 1403 E. 23rd St., and William Bryan Faus, 404 E. 35th St., were being held Thursday at the Ector County Detention Center on bonds of $50,000 each.

According to the arrest affidavit, police received an anonymous tip that a 15-year-old and "a person named Brian (Jr.)" were involved in taking a .45-caliber handgun during an Aug. 10 burglary of a home in the 3200 block of Eastover Drive.

Odessa police matched the tip to a case report, the affidavit said. In that report, the owner reported $1,200 in damage to his door and theft of items totaling $5,750, including a SIG Sauer .45-caliber handgun, two laptop computers and a watch.

Police found the 15-year-old’s name in the system and contacted his mother, who brought him to the police department for questioning, the affidavit said. The boy confessed and said Faus was there, the affidavit said.

When Faus came to the police department, he admitted entering the home as well and taking some items, the affidavit said. Faus said he did it because Davis had asked Faus and the 15-year-old if they wanted to burglarize a home, the affidavit said.

When Davis was questioned, he denied involvement, but said a 20-year-old man, identified as the driver by all three, had committed the burglary, the affidavit said.

The 20-year-old denied taking part in the burglary, but a computer case with the owner’s name was found in his vehicle’s trunk, the affidavit said. The 20-year-old said he did pick up Davis and "a person he called cousin" on Maple Avenue, and they had the case with them then, the affidavit said.

Municipal Court Judge Dennis Jones signed the arrest warrant affidavits Wednesday.
