Brothers Jerrod and Gary Gardenhire threw quite the party at Penwell Knights Raceway bringing in a crowd of 5,000 drag racing thrill seekers for a good cause.
Proceeds went to the Odessa Peace Officers Memorial Foundation. The brothers received $6,670 from entry fees and donations. The Gardenhires are adding to that for a $10,000 donation to the bronze statue.
Cpl. Shawn Calendar with the OPD set up shop at the raceway and sold $400 worth of caps and T-shirts for the cause.
The brothers also raised $2,000 to go to Dominique Dejuane Robinson's family. Robinson died in a motorcycle accident last May.
