Got over a million dollars?

The former residence of the late Ellen Noël, now owned by UTPB, is still on the market after listing early this summer with Century 21 Acsales Realty.
In early June, the property at 2540 Palo Verde Drive was listed at $2.1 million, but the price has been reduced and now stands at $1.7 million. According to the Ector County Appraisal District’s website, the 6.4-acre property includes a home that has a little more than 12,000 square foot.
UTPB President David Watts said he didn’t know anything about progress on the sale, but UTPB Public Information Officer Iris Foster confirmed that the house and grounds still haven’t sold.
“It’s still on the market and was going to go to the university,” she said.
Watts said earlier that the plan is for any sale proceeds to benefit the Wagner-Noël Performing Arts Center. Both Ellen Noël and her late husband W.D. Noël supported the arts in Odessa. Ellen Noël died in May 2008.
Watts said the estate grew too expensive to maintain and sites like the arts center could be used to host functions instead of using the home’s grounds.
According to Century 21 Acsales Realty, the three-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home was built in 1963. The Ector County Appraisal District has listed the value of the property at $1.05 million.
