ECISD board to meet twice Tuesday

The Ector County ISD Board of Trustees will meet twice Tuesday.

At 11:30 a.m., the board will get together in second floor conference room at the ECISD Adminstration Building, 802 N. Sam Houston Ave., to for a training session with the Houston-based Center for Reform of School Systems.

At past meetings, Julian Treviño, a San Antonio-based governance solutions trainer with the center, has advised the board to look into dealing with several topics, including when and if board members can make public statements to the news media, setting rules for placing items on the board agenda and team building.

After a May meeting, ECISD formed an ad hoc committee to deal with creating “standards of professional practice” for many of the issues the board deals with.

Training with the center is paid for by a private grant.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, the board meets again, this time in the administration building board room, to vote on approving a plan from the Ector County Redistricting Task Force.

The school district is looking at similar plans to those that will be used by the Odessa College and hospital district boards. At its meeting last week, the OC board approved Plan 7A, while the hospital board has recommended doing the same.

That plan would move 1,385 voters between board member districts, fewer than half of what Plan 7B would move.
