Accident temporarily shuts down Loop

An Odessa College student got quite a scare Monday, after his pickup rolled off Loop 338, temporarily shutting down the southbound lane.

Odessa Police Officer Tiffany Baker said a blue Volkswagen stalled out at the intersection of Eastridge Road and Loop 338.

Wade Moore, 20, was traveling south on the Loop, when he came up behind the Volkswagen.

“He drove up behind her thinking she was in the turning lane, and once he realized she wasn’t, he swerved to miss her,” Baker said.

Wade swerved his 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup, clipping the back of the Volkswagen, the officer said. He drove off the road and flipped his vehicle, crashing into the guardrail, Baker said.

Baker said there were no injuries.

“She was a little shaken up — it kind of scared her,” Baker said.

Wade was cited with failure to control speed.

But considering the intensity of the accident, his mother, Terri Moore, said he got off lucky.

“He’s lucky,” Moore said. “God was with him the day before he turns 21.”
