Committee approves internal audit
A two-year renewal of Medical Center Hospital's internal audit service was approved Thursday at a meeting of the audit committee of the Ector County Hospital District Board of Directors.
The agreement, which is expected to be voted on by the whole board at its Dec. 9 meeting, will pay Elms, Farris & Co. an estimated $150,000 each of the next two years. David Duree of Elms Farris said that cost hasn't changed in seven years.
The company will make reports throughout the year on the results of its audit work, Duree said. The reports summarize the procedures performed and findings, observations and recommendations from the procedures.
Duree also updated the committee on a dependant benefits audit, in which 60 people were contacted and asked to provide verification that their dependants are qualified for coverage under the plan. So far, he said 18 employees had provided complete documentation and 6 had provided incomplete documentation. Thirty-five employees hadn't responded.
