A 40-year-old Odessa man was arrested and charged with robbery Thursday morning after he was accused of taking money from a business and assaulted a woman.
Eric Waddell Cox, 717 E. Odessa St., was being held Friday at the Ector County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
According to an arrest affidavit, a woman at the Game Room, 4241 N. Dixie Blvd., reported to the Odessa Police Department that a man she knows as “Sugar Ray” took $595 from one of the gaming machines and assaulted her as he was leaving. The woman then gave a description of the man and his vehicle, the affidavit stated.
Police then pulled over a vehicle matching the woman’s description, which was being driven by Eric Waddell Cox. Cox agreed to give police a statement, the affidavit stated.
In an audio and video taped statement, Cox admitted to using the name “Sugar Ray” and getting into a confrontation with the woman, but denied taking any money, the affidavit stated.
The affidavit said that when the woman was shown a photo lineup, she identified Cox as the man from the Game Room.
