Sydnee Gatewood, Alpine High School 2008 HOBY ambassador, described her experiences to the Alpine Woman's Club at the HOBY Youth Leadership Conference in El Paso. Fifty years ago, Hugh O'Brien founded the conference to promote leadership and service among high school students. A conference highlight was a telephone address by Hugh O'Brien, 85. The GFWC Woman's Club of Alpine sponsors an Alpine High student HOBY ambassador each year. Pictured seated are, from left: Elizabeth Foley, Sydnee Gatewood and Hazel Barmore.
