GFWC Woman’s Club of Alpine

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Alpine recently hosted the ‘La Entrada’ program and meeting in Alpine. They also celebrated American Heart Month and participants wore red to promote heart health for women. A rice and bean lunch was served in recognition of World Food Day to increase awareness of food habits in developing countries. Funds raised benefited the Alpine firefighters. Guest speakers were Pam Marett, Sul Ross State chair of business administration department, and SRSU MBA students Juan Nieto from Mexico, Ying Jing Xing from China and Carol Lewis, a former school teacher and longtime resident of Alpine. In attendance were, from left to right, front row: Amanda Smith, Chris Valenzuela, Barbara Valenzuela, Janith Stephenson, Pam Marett, Mary Vongsavath, Carol Lewis, Joyce Wright, Elizabeth Foley and Hazel Barmore. Back row: Lee Smith, Juan Carlos Nieto, Ying Jing Xing, Connie Row (hidden), Linda Trollinger, Nina Foley, Eunice Vincent, Metha Sprinkle, Gail Shugart, Anna Talley and Darlene Scifres (hidden).
