Accident sends two to the hospital
A two-vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries just after 7 p.m. Monday on the corner of Grandview Avenue and Boulder Avenue.
"There was like a big boom, like an explosion," resident Rosa Alvarez said of the accident.
Alvarez said she didn’t see the accident, but heard the crash and went to see what had happened.
The driver of a white Chevy pickup pulled into traffic on Grandview Avenue from Boulder Avenue when he collided with a black Ford pickup, causing the black truck to rollover, Cpl. C. Goodson said.
"We hit that black truck and then my door just went bam — it tried to break," 3-year-old Salome Anaya Jr. said.
Anaya was in the backseat of the white pickup with his sister Adaceli when the accident happened, Anaya’s mother Rose Macedo said.
"That’s like the worst thing you want to hear is your kids are in a car accident," Macedo said.
Two unidentified people in the black pickup were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the white pickup was cited with failure to yield the right of way, Officer A. Marrero said.
Marrero refused to release the name of the driver cited in the accident.
