A time to blend
Comments 0 | Recommend 0When my ancestors came to the Americas, they wanted to escape their heritage and assimilate into a country of freedom.
If we had wanted to hang on to our heritage, we would have stayed there. Anyone who wants to hang on to heritage does not want to be an American.
The Mexicans who want to hang onto their heritage want all the goodies offered here, but do not want to be American.
My heritage is Scottish-Irish. I don't know the language and don't want to. I am American and English is the language of my country.
I have been in many foreign countries and know that the majority of the world's business is done in English. The young pride themselves in being able to speak English.
We celebrate the Fourth of July because it is America's Independence Day. In Texas, we should also celebrate March 2 because it is Texas Independence Day (freedom from Mexico). But we can't very well do that because the majority of the population is Mexican and they don't want to be Texan or American.
Think of the billions of U.S. dollars they send to Mexico. That is robbery of the U.S. in any way you want to look at it. Those dollars come from the U.S. economy.
It's time for the U.S. to tell them to shut up and assimilate or get out.
