Victor Lee Crumrine Sr.

ODESSA Victor Lee Crumrine Sr. joined his mother, father, brother and sister in heaven on August 5, 2008.


He passed from this life due to complications of diabetes and heart problems at Medical Center hospital in Odessa, Texas.


Vic was born March 4, 1934, to Elmer and Ruth Goodale Crumrine in rural Woodson County, Kansas, where he was raised and educated. He married his childhood sweetheart, Kay Miller in the Presbyterian Church in Chanute, Kansas, on September 27, 1953, and they were blessed with five boys; Lee, Rory, Cory, Barry and Troy.


They moved to Odessa in 1961 and Vic joined the Odessa Police Department in November of the same year. He moved through the ranks over the years and retired on April 30, 1992, as a Lieutenant of the Patrol Division. Vic was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his fellow officers from the OPD as well as his sons and other family over the years. He was a member of First Church of God and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as an adult.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bud; and sister, Anita.


He is survived by wife, Donna Kay; sons, Victor Lee Jr. and wife, Sharon of Odessa, Texas; Rory and wife, Judy of Crane, Texas; Cory and wife, Karen of Monahans, Texas; Barry Jon and wife, Lynn of Penwell, Texas, and Troy Don and wife, Sherree of Odessa, Texas; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four nephews, Marvin Crumrine of Emporia, Kansas, Alan Markham of Chanute, Kansas, Colby and Chad Miller of New Braunfels, Texas; two nieces, Gaye Webb of Odessa, Texas, and Carrie Markham Cooper of Chanute, Kansas; sister-in-law, Thelma Crumrine of Yates Center, Kansas; brother-in-law, Everet Miller and wife, Jimmie of Corpus Christi, Texas; four great-nephews; and three great-nieces.


The pallbearers will be: his grandsons, Doug, Gabriel, Jordan, Colt, Nick, Jacob and Mason.


Honorary pallbearers will be: Marvin Crumrine, Kevin Willhite and Alan Markum.


The family will receive visitors at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 10 a.m. at First Church of God with pastors Jerry Patterson and Wally Schiwart officiating. Interment will follow at Rhodes Cemetery in Penwell, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.


In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association. The memorials will be handled by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. They can be contacted at 1-432-362-2331.
