LETTER: Obama has to go this year

Odessa

Editor's note: The following statements are not from the Sept. 7, 2008, edition of Meet the Press, when then-Sen. Barack Obama was not a guest, but from a satirical column and later forwarded email additions.

Consider these statements: “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. The national anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air, and all that sort of thing. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing.’ ”

Or this one: “It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East brethren. If we, as a nation of warring people, conduct ourselves like the nations of Islam, where peace prevails — perhaps a state or period of mutual accord could exist between our governments.”

And, finally, this one: “My wife and I look forward to becoming our country’s first black family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.”

Barack Obama made all of these statements on an episode of “Meet The Press” on Sept. 7, 2008. In other words, it is documented. Now, does anyone really want four more years of a president with an attitude towards America like this? Can anyone believe he would make a statement like “— the nations of Islam, where peace prevails.” Are you kidding me? I’d like to see one Islamic nation where there is peace. They’re like the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny. They don’t exist.

I admit, the Republican candidates for the presidency aren’t the best choices we could have, but they are better than Obama. At least, they are pro-America, and don’t feel the need to apolgize to other countries for the U.S. I would be willing to bet that Newt Gingrich, or even Mitt Romney, would not bow to an Arabian sheikh, as Obama did.

Another thing, which really scares the crap out of me, is Obama’s, and his administration’s, position on gun control. Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Hillary Clinton,  Eric Holder, and Obama himself, all are committed to destroying our rights under the Second Amendment. If Obama is elected to a second term, he will very likely have the opportunity to send three more liberals to the Supreme Court, which will upset the balance in favor of liberal activism. When that happens, the Court will soon rule that the Second Amendment does not confer an individual right to keep and bear arms. What that means, is that guns will be prohibited, like in England, and that will be the end of the freedoms we, as Americans, enjoy. Once the general public is disarmed, the government will be able to do anything it wants to, and we will be helpless to prevent it. That was the Founding Fathers’ purpose in including the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights. That is, so the people could protect themselves from government tyranny.

And they didn’t mean tyranny from a foreign government.  They meant from our own government. Any government will eventually become a dictatorship, or other form of tyrannical government, if the people are unable to rein it in.

With the elections looming on the horizon, I just hope everyone will keep these thoughts in mind, and vote against Obama.  Any Republican would be better than four more years of Socialism.
