Hockey: Jackalopes lose in shootout

The Odessa Jackalopes scored a third-period goal to tie the game, survived a pair of penalties in overtime and then watched Rio Grande Valley’s Grant Goeckner-Zoeller score his second goal of the game in a shootout to lift the Killer Bees to a 4-3 victory Saturday night at Dodge Arena.

Aaron Lee and Daymen Rycroft also scored for Rio Grande Valley.

The Jackalopes (12-3-1) got goals from Alex Dunn, Jeff Pierce and Collin Circelli during regulation, but couldn’t solve Killer Bees goaltender Andy Franck during the shootout. It was the second consecutive night that Odessa had gone to a shootout, having defeated Laredo 4-3 on Friday.
