LETTER: Church on wrong side of issue

With respect to Reverend Pfeifer, the Catholic church has been on the wrong side in many issues, please don’t get caught up in today’s politics and offer outrage, when there are many more tragedies that we can brought to the forefront such as child hunger, wars that kill millions of innocent people.

Our tax dollars go to many unconscionable things, it is a little late to be worrying about contraceptives and the such for health care. I personally won’t need a mammogram, but I get to pay for it, and that’s just the way it is. Is it the church’s position to ignore women’s rights, so that it can make political points by jumping on this band wagon?

I am against President Obama’s health care “Obamacare” for far different reason, first and foremost it is an insurance plan not health care plan, there is a big difference, the only one that benefits from this plan are insurance companies. We truly need a health care plan for the poor in the United States but this is not it, and it should be repealed, not because it is about the Catholic church’s honor.

We have been on the same side on many issues, and I hope we will be in the future.
