Ella Ruth Rogge Chastain
ODESSA Ella Ruth Rogge Chastain, age 67, of Odessa, passed from this life on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Medical Center Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 14, 1944 to Elmer Ozell Franks, Sr. and Oklahoma Bell (Lane) Franks. She was a hairdresser for over 50 years.
Ruth always loved to be the center of attention. She was a classy lady – top of the line. She was “Miss Black Velvet” in the 70’s and had her own billboard. She loved to shop and was very young at heart. Ruth also had her stubborn side and could be all attitude – “something else”.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are her brother: Elmer Ozell Franks, Jr. of Ft. Stockton; sister: Claudine Mae Humphrey of Huntington Beach, CA; five grandchildren: Holly King, Matthew King, and David Lee Owens II, all of Odessa, and Daniel Lee Owens III and Alicia Owens, both of Midland; and three great-grandchildren: Hayley King, Christopher King, and Corbin Chesshir, all of Odessa.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her sons: David Lee Owens and Danny Owens; and her daughter: Debra Lynn King.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.
