Midland motorcycle fatality

MIDLAND A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Larry Hedges, 64, died after his Kawasaki motorcycle collided with a Dodge Ram pickup as Hedges was leaving a 7-Eleven store at Big Spring Street and Dakota Avenue, according to police reports.

The driver of the pickup, 29-year-old Manuel Burumen, wasn't injured. Police said Hedges was driving southbound on Big Spring while Burumen was turning westbound on Dakota.

No citations were issued pending further investigation, police said. This was Midland's 11th fatality of 2008.
