Captioned meeting
The Hearing Loss Association of America, Permian Basin chapter has scheduled a captioned meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center, 620 N. Alleghaney Ave.
Edie Wreyford, with media relations in the Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau of the  Federal Communications Commission, will discuss the change from analog to digital television broadcasting that will occur on Feb. 17, 2009. She will answer questions and concerns regarding this change in television broadcasting.
A light lunch will be provided and members are asked to bring a covered dish.
The 2008 Walk4Hearing is planned for Sept. 27 at Memorial Gardens.

Trauma Awareness Day
MIDLAND The Texas "J" Regional Advisory Council and the Midland RockHounds has scheduled Trauma Awareness Day on Tuesday at Citibank Ballpark.
The Midland RockHounds will go up against the Frisco RoughRiders starting at 11 a.m. The gates open at 9 a.m.
The Texas "J" RAC is a nonprofit organization composed of participants from 17 counties in West Texas. The RAC is responsible for monitoring and promoting trauma awareness and injury prevention.
The goal of Trauma Awareness Day is to educate the public in surrounding communities in an effort to prevent trauma-related injuries and deaths.
This event is open to the public. For tickets or group arrangements, call Midland RockHounds at 520-2255.

Gluten-free meeting
MIDLAND The West Texas Gluten Free-Support Group has scheduled a meeting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Midland Memorial Hospital's West Campus.
Participants are encouraged to bring a gluten-free casserole and recipe.

Medical summer camp
The Permian Basin Area Health Education Center of Midland has scheduled a three-day Jump Start Medical Careers Summer Camp June 10-13 at Circle 6 Baptist Camp, 2784 Highway 137, Lenorah.
Camp Jump Start is designed for area high school students to learn the different types of medical careers available.
Admission requirements are teacher recommendation, completed application, interest in health careers and science and a 3.0 grade point average.
Deadlines are May 19 for applications, May 23 for acceptance letters and June 6 for camp paperwork and fees. Scholarships are available.
