The town of Pecos is rich in history. Located in the heart of West Texas geographically, it's one place you really have to be a part of to know what you're missing.

Even then, you just cannot pinpoint what it is that brings people to Pecos and what keeps them coming.

You hear people who had moved out of Pecos say they never would've thought that they'd take vacation time from work just to come and visit.

However, what makes Pecos different from all other towns in the world is that Pecos is home to the world's first rodeo. Rodeo week during July is one of the best times of the year to visit Pecos. This is because the town shows its tradition, history, patriotism, pride and hospitality all in one week.

Another great thing about Pecos is its el dieciséis de septiembre festival. Celebrating Mexican independence from Spain, residents of Pecos get together and catch up with each other. It's a relaxing and laid-back festival with good atmosphere.

Ma Wilson's Texas-sized doughnuts play a huge jelly-filled role in making the town great by providing breakfast at a great bargain - just ask any of Ma's regulars.

Pecos cantaloupes are also an essential ingredient that makes the town so great.
