THE STORY: Sherwood Park, one of the city's oldest and most-frequented public spaces, has entered the final planning stages of what could very well be its return to glory.

City and architectural representatives presented some of the final plans for the park's $5 million renovation Thursday evening in the 60-acre park's community center building.

>> neomi2287: I think that it's great that they want to fix up the park BUT 5 million is too much money just for a park. They should only use about 1 million for Sherwood park and fix up only the important areas like the restrooms, lighting, and some of the play equipment. The other 4 million could be used to fix up all the trashy part of Odessa.

The city really needs to demolish all those "rat-hotels" condemned buildings that are vacant taking up space. Odessa has potential if only the city counsel could open thier eyes to it. And too Odessa can use a spruce up of better landscaping throughout as well. -CITY COUNSEL NEEDS TO DEFINITELY CLEAN UP AND WIPE OUT ALL THE UGLY OLD BUILDINGS IN ODESSA!!!!-
