NUGGETS: True disciples seek Him
Jesus had been talking to the people in parables, and without parables He didn’t speak to them. He was fulfilling prophecy, speaking things that had been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
“Then He sent the Multitude away, and went into the house; and His disciples came unto Him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field” (Matthew 13:36).
I want us to see some things in this scripture.
>> They knew Him: Notice how the disciples went into Him. They felt comfortable enough to simply go in to where He was. Disciple means one who is a pupil or follower that accepts the teachings and helps to spread them. Disciple means a disciplined one. True disciples today, keep the word of God. No one is perfect, but they do not live a sinful lifestyle, indifferent to the Bible.
>> They followed Him: The disciples went into the house, they came unto Him. It was written earlier, that they left everything and followed Him. “And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful but follower of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Hebrews 6:11-12). There is a hell to shun and a promise of eternal life with Christ Jesus to be gained, by following the one true God, the Creator of the universe.
>> Seeking after Him: When they said, “Declare unto us,” they were seeking after Him, they wanted to know what He knew. One person said to Him, “Are there few that be saved? And He said to them, strive to enter in at the straight gate: for many I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able” (Luke 13:23-24). Many will not want to leave the things of the world, in order to have Jesus as savior. Many will want salvation when it is too late. When He fed the five thousand, He said “Verily, verily I say unto you, ye seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled” (John 6:26). Some seek Him for the material things they can get.
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom, but the tares are the children of the wicked one. The tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The righteous will shine forth as the sun. (Read Matt. 13:33-43.)
No person is too mean for Jesus to accept and no sin is too bad for Him to forgive. You are a part of that field He died for.
Ask Him to forgive you and come into your Heart today. He loves you so much. Choose today where you will spend eternity.
