MIDLAND Alta Elizabeth Basden Reese passed from this life October 13, 2008, following a long battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born August 31, 1938, in Antlers, Oklahoma, to Huey and Cappy Basden. Her early childhood was spent in Oklahoma where her happiest childhood memories were of family visits to her grandparents' farm. Her family moved to Texas at the end of WWII.

She graduated from Odessa High School and attended radiation technology school in Oklahoma City. She returned to Odessa and was employed by the radiology group of doctors Melton, Lewis and Bowman where she worked for over 20 years. After leaving the medical profession, she owned and operated Two Sisters dress shop in Odessa until retiring.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years Rob Reese; her sister, Huetta Barnett; her dearest friend, Ruth Sims; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Evelyn Carnes; and numerous cousins.

Her faith in Our Lord was without question. Her favorite passage was also her courage: "I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." John 16:33.

Arrangements are under the care of Nalley, Pickle & Welch of Midland. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
