Lillie Beatrice ‘Jackie’ Akins

ODESSA Lillie Beatrice "Jackie" Akins, 97, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Monday, October 13, 2008, at the Hospice House. She was born October 12, 1911, in Peoria, Texas, to L.C. and Roxie Jackson.

She married Andrew Cullen Akins on February 14, 1928, in Hillsboro, Texas.

Jackie and Cullen came to the Permian Basin in the early oil boom days. She was a member of the Odessa Downtown Lions Club Women's Auxiliary and Sixth & Jackson Church Of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cullen Akins; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Lorbeck.

She is survived by her sons, Brooks Akins and wife, Yvette, of Odessa, Greg Akins and wife, Diana, of Lubbock; daughter, Jan Fitts and husband, Jack, of Midland; eight grandchildren, Britt, Lisa, Tino, Jeff, Leslie, Eric, Erin and Brandon; seven great-grandchildren, Brittany, Cheyenne, Kristen, Cullen, Jacy, Paul and Jennifer; and great-great-grandson, Madden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that Memorials may be made to the Hospice House.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
