Carnegie Hall to Odessa

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Sarah Wilson, UTPB instructor and principal cellist for the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale, will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday on campus in J. Conrad Dunagan Library Lecture Hall 001.

She will be accompanied by guest pianist Jacob Frasch.

Both are graduates of Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and have numerous musical performances in their repertoire. Ms. Wilson made her Carnegie Hall debut at 17, has performed solos and in orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. She has just returned from Oneonta, N.Y., where she was artist-in-residence and faculty at Hartwick College Summer Music Festival.

In recital, she focuses on lesser known works from classical composers as well as modern works. She holds a Master's Degree in music degree from Rice University. And, her 1757 cello dates back to the Italian school of Calvarola.

Frasch was awarded the Kaufman Prize in chamber music at Oberlin and the Accompanist Award at Peabody Institute where he also trained. As his concerts have been reviewed in the New York Times and the Cleveland Plain Dealer, he has been recognized for his "taut pianism."

This recital is free and open to the public.
