NUGGETS: God created the stars also

Linney is a nondenominational pastor in Stanton

We talked last week about the moon and how it reflects the sun — just as the Church reflects the Son, Christ Jesus. It’s described more in the book “Days of Our Lives” talking about the spiritual days of our lives in Genesis chapter 1. Then God said “let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years” (Genesis 1:14). “The greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also” (Genesis 1:16). Abram was told he would have children as the stars in the sky and the sand of the sea. This was comparing stars to mankind. Jude 13 talks about stars foaming up their own shame, wandering stars for who is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. Those stars represent those people who refused to repent and yield to Christ Jesus.

The greater light of course is the sun (Son) and the lesser light the moon (the Church). In day one of creation God said let there be Light, singular and in day four He said “Let there be lights plural (Genesis 1:16). “And He made stars also.” We see in this passage of scripture, these lights were for signs and seasons, and for days and years. People use them in the wrong way like “The Horoscopes”. God did make the stars, but we do not look to them for guidance. The Holy Spirit is out counselor, He gives us direction. The church is compared to the moon and the stars are compared to each individual Christian in the church. We are not talking about those who joined an organization, but those who joined Christ Jesus. By the Gifts of the Holy Spirit they show signs and wonders.

One of the ladies at a Bible study where I taught this revelation, said she had read, where stars generated light from within as well as reflecting the sun. That excited me, because I know we have “The Light” in us when Jesus comes into our hearts. Then we put on Christ. We have light in us and then on us as we reflect “The Son.”

During the night the stars shine bright, yet in the day they seem to fade. They are still there, but the light of the sun is so bright, that is what we see. Well, the closer we Christians (stars) get to the Son (sun), the light of the Son is so bright, and those around us see Jesus instead of us, instead of our personalities. “But we all with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into that same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). We are being transformed, not there yet. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to finally mature to that place that when people looked at us, all they could see is Jesus?

God set the Stars in the firmament to give light. He set Christians in the body of Christ to give light in the nights of people’s lives. It is said that stars differ from one another in glory. We differ from one another also. God has a plan for each of us in order for His perfect plan for mankind to be fulfilled. No other plan could possibly be as great as the plan of He who created us. Why not start on that journey today? If you know Him, yield to Him today let your light shine. If you don’t know Him, invite Him into your heart and become a star. Become the light He created you to be. You will never be sorry you did.
