ASK THE TRAINER: Motivation is the key to success

May is PTA, NASM certified and CrossFit Certified

Now that you are all doing so well with your eating habits and you know how to work out when you are out of town no matter where you are, let's talk about motivation and how to keep things going! Motivation is a funny thing and it is different for everyone. Some people need a buddy for accountability, others need a journal and some need a tiny bikini hanging in their closet, or even a lock on the refrigerator! I found a quote that describes it better than I can:

“ ‘Life’ does happen! Have a heart to heart with yourself. Get in touch with what you want your body to look and feel like. Get as detailed as possible, then make a firm commitment to do what you know needs to be done. Track each and every calorie you eat and drink and stay within your daily calories. Avoid eating empty calories and drink lots of water! Minimize your sodium, sugar and processed food intake. Make your workouts strong and consistent. Get enough sleep and monitor your stress levels. Enjoy the journey and do not let anything or anyone, (including YOU), stand in your way. You can do this. You are worth the effort and you have what it takes to get the job done. You will be looking smokin’ hot on the beach — believe it!” – Dancing Girl

There is no magic pill or potion or formula, it is consistently doing all these things for YOU! If you don't have the knowledge, find someone who does and ask for help. Make sure this person is qualified and understands your goals. More often than not we get in our own way. There will be hiccups along the way, but that is ok. Do not accept failure, refocus and get back on track!
