'90 Minutes in Heaven' author to speak in Midland

National Prayer Breakfast

MIDLAND Don Piper, author of the New York Times Bestseller “90 Minutes  in Heaven,” will be the guest speaker at the fourth-annual National Prayer Breakfast Midland, at 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, at the Midland Center. The event gives Midlanders the opportunity to pray together for our community, state, nation and leaders, as well as to hear Piper’s account of his life-after-death experience as chronicled in his popular book.

A number of Midlanders will participate in the breakfast/prayer meeting, including Mayor Wes Perry, who will serve as emcee; a joint choir from True Lite Christian Fellowship and First Presbyterian Church will provide music.

Piper has inspired thousands of audiences around the globe since the 2004 release of the book and millions have heard the “90 Minutes in Heaven” story in person, on TV, radio and print media. Over 5 millions copies of his books have been sold. “90 Minutes in Heaven” remained on the NYT best-seller list for nearly four years.

Following his Radio-TV broadcasting career, Piper pursued a calling that he had had since adolescence and became an ordained Christian minister. During his service as a pastor, in fact on his way to church in 1989, Piper was killed in a horrific car crash. A pastor who was on that lonely highway behind him felt called by God to pray over Don's body and did so for 90 minutes. Others who were told of the accident, but not of his death, also prayed. Piper endured 13 excruciating months of hospitalization and 34 surgeries. He now shares his incredible lessons of answered prayer, miracles, overcoming tragedy, pain and loss, and the reality of heaven.

Piper has shared his story of hope and healing on NBC's Today Show, Dateline NBC, ABC's Nightline, FOX Network's Sean Hannity's America, and The O'Reilly Factor. He is a frequent guest on Trinity Broadcasting's Praise the Lord and CBN’s The 700 Club, and has been interviewed by literally hundreds of radio stations, newspapers, and magazines all over the world.

National Prayer Breakfast Midland tickets are $7, and are available at Mardel’s, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, First Methodist Church and St. Ann's Catholic Church. Also available at the door on February 15. For more information please call 432-684.7821.
