LUBBOCK The train has left for a new and better station. Bush and his famous train whistle went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan., 12, 2012.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Bush Jordan from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, Lubbock. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Lubbock. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
He was born James B. Jordan on June 25, 1929 to the late A.W. and Bonnie (Belt) Jordan in Lubbock. Bush graduated from New Deal High School in 1947. He met the love of his life Donna Ramsdell and they married on Aug. 15, 1950 in Lubbock. Bush farmed at Wolfforth and Floydada and in 1965 he moved to Pampa to work for Continental Oil Company. Bush was an avid golfer and this led him into the golf car business until his retirement with E-Z-Go Golf Cars in 1998.
In his early years, Bush loved to ride motorcycles and play softball. As an avid sports enthusiast he loved the Red Raiders and was a diehard Dallas Cowboy and Texas Rangers fan.
Bush loved music, singing and entertaining. In his early days, he led singing for church gatherings all across West Texas and the Panhandle. He loved bluegrass and old country music, and when health would permit he never missed the Meadow Musical, Abernathy Jamboree or Higginbotham.
Along with his parents, Bush was preceded in death by his wife, Donna in 1996; a sister, Mildred Curington of Lubbock; two brothers, Charley Jordan of Ropesville and John Jordan of Lubbock along with four other sisters and two other brothers.
Those left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Randy Jordan and his wife Mickey, Hank Jordan and wife Regina all of Lubbock, Texas and a daughter, Retha Hahn and husband Bobby Wayne of Port Lavaca, Texas; two grandsons, Todd Jordan and wife Tasha and Josh Jordan and wife Stephanie; two great grandsons, Tristan Jordan and Creed Jordan; one great granddaughter, Tylee Jordan all of Lubbock; a special niece, Foy Ruth Wilson and husband Harvey of Lubbock and a special nephew, Archie Jordan and wife Jessica of Midland, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers the family would suggest memorials to the South Plains Food Bank, 4610 Locust Ave., Lubbock, Texas 79404.
