Open since 1973, Trower Real Estate combines up-to-date selling techniques with old-fashioned personal service to make sure you’re satisfied, whether you’re buying or selling a home or commercial property, or looking for a place to rent.

Owner Virgil Trower became a real estate agent in 1971. In 1973, he started his own real estate agency under the name Goodwin Trower. Later, the business became Trower REALTORS. They have been in the same building since 1973.

Trower REALTORS is a family-owned business with many family members actively involved in the daily operation.

“My two daughters and my son all work here,” Virgil said. “I even had grandson working here for awhile.”

With 25 agents, several builders, a sales manager and their own in-house mortgage company, Trower REALTORS strives to be your one-stop shop, whether you’re buying, selling or building.

Trower is a member of the Texas Association of REALTORS and currently serves as a Regional Vice President for TAR. Their agents frequently undergo continuing education to keep up with the latest trends and changes in the law. “There’s always something new to learn,” Virgil said.

Back in 1971, Virgil said, a listing agreement could fit on a single page. Now, however, promulgated contracts can run as many as eight to 10 pages with several addendums.
Back then, a multiple listing service page came on a sheet of loose leaf that was kept in a binder. Now, several more listings per day come in through the Internet.

“I still look at them every morning,” Virgil said. “It takes only a few minutes; then I can go on to my next project.”

On the whole, Virgil believes the computer has been a boon to the real estate business.

“Computers are a big time-saving element. Agents are able to spend more time with customers, and customers have more access to listings.”

Trower agents constantly research the market and property values so that your home is priced effectively from day one. They also make sure the public knows your home is for sale by using innovative advertising and marketing techniques to attract potential buyers.

Trower REALTORS is currently developing in many places, including the North Park area near Barbara Jordan Elementary School. “There have been over 100 lots developed in the last year and a half, and 160 more are being developed,” Virgil said, adding that houses range in price from $140,000 to $275,000.
