'Top 100 Hospital'
Medical Center named among exclusive list
Medical Center Hospital has been named among the 100 Top Hospitals in Thomson Reuters' performance improvement leaders study.
The Ector County Hospital District's board of directors are scheduled to hear about it at its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Medical Center.
According to its website, on Aug. 11, Thomson Reuters announced the release of its fifth edition of the 100 Top Hospitals: Performance Improvement Leaders study.
The website said the Performance Improvement Leaders:
>> Had fewer than expected patient deaths and adverse safety events.
>> Increased expenses only 2.5 percent during the five-year study period, on average.
>> Increased profit margin from less than 1 percent to 6.9 percent.
>> Reduced average length of stay by nearly a day, despite greater severity of illness.
Medical Center is listed among teaching hospitals in the top 100 list on the website.
On Tuesday, the board will also consider:
>> A medical plan third-party administration agreement.
>> Exclusivity agreements for anesthesia services with Permian Basin Clinical Services.
>> Naming September employees of the month Janeth Marquez and Dorothy Hargis.
>> Recognizing "I CARE Team" achievements.
>> Hearing committee reports.
>> Hearing a report from Texas Tech Health Science Centers.
