Texas Junior and Senior State Judo Championships in Odessa

Two-hundred and sixteen competitors from across Texas competed at The Texas Junior and Senior State Judo Championships in Odessa. Local competitors are, from left to right, standing: Coach Dale Lehman, Francisco Lira, Andrew Soto and Coach John Taylor.

Kneeling: M. C. Lawson, Jose Rangel, Tyler Dyson, Raul Rodriguez, Tyler Herrera, Cameron Evans and Ramz Leyva. Sitting: Brandi Rangel, Keenan Nash, Norma Hernandez, Ben Hernandez, Ambri Leyva, Jayce Hubbard and Kassandra Hernandez.

The Odessa Boy's & Girl's Club Judo Team made a successful sweep placing in almost all Junior & Senior Divisions. The state champions from OBC Judo are, Gracie Burcham, ages 7 & 8 girl's light weight; Kassandra Hernandez, ages 11 & 12 girl's light weight; M. C. Lawson, age 11 boy's heavy weight; Raul Rodriguez, age 15 boy's heavy weight; Bryan Hughes, senior novice 90 kg; Francisco Lira, senior men's 60 kg; Zachary Burcham, senior men's 73 kg; Andrew Soto, senior men's 90 kg; Jeremy Cox, senior men's 100 kg; James Cottingham, senior men's open; K. C. Windham, age 30-39 senior men's masters; and James Cottingham, age 40-49 senior men's masters.
