THE POLL: Do you think administrative leave is a good action following accusations?
>> Yes, if they are innocent you don’t want to fire them: 45 percent (23 votes)
>> Depends on the situation: 47 percent (24 votes)
>> Not sure: 8 percent (4 votes)
>> ecisdteacher1: “Shame and disgust is how I feel about this. If our school ditrict refuses to take action on these scoundrels, then we must take action at the polls. These decisions will be career killers for the highest level administrators that are in the Superintendent’s cabinet. They focus on curriculum, TAKS, Bilingual and how to maintain their status and jobs while the foundation of morals, ethics, responsibility, and the very children of this district are ignored the most. Let’s stop complaining on blogs Bowie parents and let’s all show up to the next board meeting and voice our disgust and rage against this spineless lunacy! These are our children that are in their care and protection, and they don’t seem to care. When will we, as a community, stand up to this. I’m writing my letter and making my phone call to TEA right now! Please do the same. They don’t care about our community, but they’ll listen to TEA and the threat of law suits.”
>> saddassa: “Thankfully in America, we are innocent until proven guilty. It amazes me how many people are always out for blood. We have courts to say whether or not a person is guilty or not. It is not for ECISD to pass judgement on either of these men. After their day in court, ECISD will then bestow a judgement on them. Until then, paid administrative leave.”
>> hammer96us: “I understand that both Wilkins and Hernandez are innocent until proven guilty, but the school district has a morality clause in both of their contracts that gives them the right to terminate them. The arrest and negative publicity in itself allows the district to terminate or non-renew the term employment contracts these two individuals have. The district is digging themselves into a serious hole here, because they need to treat and give the same opportunities to Hernandez as they do Wilkins or its going to look like Mendez and Atkins are playing favorites because Yolllie is a school board member.”
