Meet Hector Izaguirre
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Hector Izagurre teaches band at Bonham Junior High.
NAME: Hector Izaguirre.
SCHOOL: Bonham Junior High.
TEACHES: Band. He's the Bonham band director.
LIVES IN: Odessa.
GREW UP IN: Mission, Texas.
GRADUATED FROM: McMurry University in Abliene.
FAMILY: Wife, Nicole; and daughter, Molly Kathleen.
HOBBIES: Playing with my daughter, watching Dallas Cowboys games, enjoying comic books, watching TV and collecting anything to do with Superman, Spider-Man or Batman.
WHY HE TEACHES: "I teach because I want to leave a mark on the life of a child. I want to be a role-model for the child because so many do not have support and encouragement on a daily basis. I strive to be an inspirational, enthusiastic teacher because I strongly believe these traits frame the heart of an educator. The satisfaction I get when a student's eyes light up is more valuable than any physical reward someone can receive. The idea of teaching next generation's president, scientist or Nobel Peace Prize winner is my inspiration. The thought of a student someday coming back and telling me I was a positive impact in their life is the best reward. So, the real question should be, ‘Why wouldn't I teach?' "
HIS CLASS MISSION: "I want each of my students to feel comfortable in my classroom. I want them to feel like they can succeed at anything and everything I introduce to them. I want each student to learn everything about the instruments they play and appreciate the music they can create. I strive to share my love of music with every child that enters my band hall. I believe the discipline and creativity taught through music will establish basic skills necessary in life."
