Anita Gillespie

BALLINGER Anita Olivia Gillespie, 85, of Midland and formerly of Ballinger, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in a Midland hospital.

She was born March 30, 1922 in Wilbarger County, Texas to Herman John and Edna (Forrester) Schoppa. She married Marvin K. Gillespie in Chillicothe, Texas on October 16, 1946. He preceded her in death December 15, 1993. The family lived in the Odessa area for a number of years before moving to Ballinger in 1982. She later relocated to Midland. She was a devoted housewife and mother as well as grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Gregory Gillespie in 1991, a sister, Leona Morris and a brother, Melvin Schoppa.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Roberts and husband, Cliff of Midland, and Brenda Tumlin and husband, Ken of Odessa; four grandchildren, Josh Gregory, Annelle Celander and Cody Tumlin, all of Odessa, and Tina Thomason of Cleveland, Texas; four sisters, Lorene Glover of Wichita Falls, Vera Isham of Amarillo, Pete Gillespie of Ballinger and Annie Patton of Denton. Seven great-grandchildren, plus twin great-grandsons due in December, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation for family and friends was Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007, at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with a private graveside service following.
