Antonia Esquirdo Garza

ODESSA Antonia Esquirdo Garza, 64, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away to join her Lord and Savior at the gates of heaven on August 20, 2008, surrounded by her loved ones.


She was born in Lubbock, Texas on December 10, 1943, to Francisco and Wencesalada Esquirdo. She married Guadalupe Garza in Lubbock on December 19, 1965. They had three children, Rachel, Rafael and Rebecca.


Mama Bear, or Grandma Bear, as she was called by her daughters and grandchildren, will be remembered for her extraordinary strength and the protection that the home she created offered to her family over the years.


She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Francisco and Wencesalada Esquirdo; and her beloved son, Rafael Garza.


Survivors include her husband, Guadalupe Garza of Odessa; daughter, Rachel Garza of Odessa; daughter, Rebecca Flores and husband, LeeRoy of Odessa; grandchildren, Raul Quiroz, Bridget Garza, Alexizandria Rubio, Rafael Rubio, Destinie Flores, Yasmeen Flores and Sierra Flores; great-grandson, Joe Adam Martinez Jr.; and two brothers, Francisco Esquirdo of Greenfield, California and Antero Esquirdo of Lubbock, Texas.


Visitation will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2008, at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
