Jal, N.M. Adell Galle, 94, of Hwy 128, Jal, N.M., passed away May 20, 2007, at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest in Carlsbad, N.M.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 24, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Jal, N.M., with Pastor Randy Aly officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. at Sweetwater Cemetery, Sweetwater, TX.

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Adell Galle was born, the same year that New Mexico became a state, on June 26, 1912, in View, TX. He married Vella Ray on March 21, 1935, and they started a wonderful life journey with three sons. This road took their family on many trips — hunting, camping, fishing, rock hunting and a galore of family get-togethers. His family meant the world to him. Adell lost his mother and father, Otto and Birdie Galle, when he was a very young child and was raised by his grandfather. His whole life as filled with WORK starting as a young teenager plowing behind a team of horses. He moved to Jal in 1934 and began a career with El Paso Natural Gas that lasted 37 years. He worked as a plant superintendent in several different plants. Some other activities that highlighted his life were teaching lapidary classes in the Jal summer vocational program for five years and at the Sivell’s Baptist Camp for many summers. Adell had the Galleon Rock and Art Shop with his wife, Vella. He was the president of the Lea-Lap Rock and Mineral Club. Adell was also the El Paso-New Mexico area coordinator of the Rocky Mountain Federation of Gem and Mineral Societies. He was honored as the Lea County Pioneer of the Year in 2004. He was preceded in death by Vella, his wife of 35 years and the mother of his sons, Ruth, his wife of 22 years, sons, D.E. Galle and Glynn Marshall Galle, brother, Frank and sister, Ellie.

Adell Galle is survived by her son: J.R. Galle and wife, Darlyne of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughters-in-law: Marie Galle of Jal, N.M. and Jayne Galle of Odessa, TX; (5) grandsons: Danny Galle, Russell Galle, Ronnie Galle, Lane Galle and Justin Galle; one granddaughter: Lisa Gadbury; (8) great-grandchildren; and (1) great-great-grandson.

Pallbearers are grandsons: Danny Galle, Russell Galle, Ronnie Galle, Lane Galle, Justin Galle and grandson-in-law, Shawn Gadbury.
