110209 House Fire web Mark Sterkel|Odessa American Odessa firefighters are enveloped in the remaining smoke associated with a fire that started Monday morning at 1400 W. Fargo. When firefighters arrived at about 8:28 a.m., flames poured out of a north-facing window on the east side of the house. Most of the fire damage was contained to the room with smoke and water damage throughout the home. The home owners were not present at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause.

OFD: Fire and burglary linked

A Monday morning fire at 1400 Fargo in Odessa is being linked to a burglary at the same address.

OFD Fire Investigator Yolonda Rincon said the fire is currently being ruled as arson and that an earlier report of burglary at the residence is linked to the blaze.

Reports show a .9 mm black Beretta pistol worth $800 was taken from the house along with $300 in cash.

Brian D. Rankin, is listed as the home’s owner.
