Marching band finishes in sixth place at UIL contest

The road has ended for the Crane High School marching band.

The Golden Cranes made it all the way to the finals Monday night of the Texas State Marching Band Contest, but didn’t succeed all the way to the championship they wanted. The band finished in sixth place.

Just four hours before their performance, the band found out they’d advanced.

“There (were) some fantastic bands here,” Assistant Band Director David Cadena said.

San Antonio’s Alamodome was the 2009 site of the annual UIL competition and the Golden Cranes were the lone representatives of the Permian Basin.
