Odessans helping Odessans

July 6, 2007 - 2:45 PM

Recent storms tore off roofs, uprooted trees and families.

Conditions in West Texas can be very unpredictable and harsh.

It is comforting to know that Odessa will soon have an interfaith network to help families with children who are in the most serious of situations — homelessness.

It is called Family Promise of Odessa.

In the midst of all the turbulence and criticisms expressed in the media and by many Odessans, I’m glad there are individuals from our community who have chosen to take a more positive, proactive position.

Many thanks to the churches, clergy, and congregations that have joined this extremely, worthwhile community service that will help homeless families with children.

I challenge all Christians to become part of this amazing network.

“The combined efforts of many people doing just a little bit will make a big difference.”
