NUGGETS: Faith persuades the mind
Faith is the very center of the Christian Message. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6). By faith we believe in a sovereign God, the creator of the universe. From the beginning of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen. Because mankind did not believe, their foolish hearts were darkened. Seeing the awesomeness of the creation, they have no excuse for their unbelief. So God gives them over the lust of their own heart. (Told in Romans 1:18-32.)
Faith persuades the mind: Faith persuades the innermost part of man that a certain thing is true. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). How will they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14). As a Christian, you may never be a pastor, but you are called to preach. The Great commission is to go and tell, that is preaching. There are sins of commission and sins of omission. We are commissioned to go and tell. It is a sin not to go and tell. We can help minds be persuaded by sharing our testimony. We help minds be persuaded by sharing the word of God.
Faith recognizes untruth: “However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13). Now it says Guide, not drag. If we are allowing the Spirit to guide us, we will recognize when something we hear is false doctrine or cults. There is an knowing deep down on the inside of us when something is wrong. In the Old Testament, under the priest breastplate was a light for yes and no. When the priest asked God a question, he would look under the breastplate and see the light for the answer. That was a type of the Holy Spirit in the inside of us that gives us the unction something is true, or gives us an inside crunch down that something is wrong.
Behind faith is trust: Because the word of God has always proved itself over and over. We can trust God. Approximately 30 men wrote the Bible, over a period of approximately 600 years and it totally coordinates from front to back. This proved the fact, of one author, the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16). We trust the Word of God through faith
Faith causes response: We respond to what we hear and hear and hear. Responding to the faith the comes from that hearing develops character of becoming more like Christ daily. Faith responds in action. Faith without works is dead (James 2:17, 20, 26). Our continuing purification is a result of faith (Acts 15:9).
Faith has a voice: Have Faith in God (Jesus is speaking), For assuredly, I say to you , whoever says to the mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says (Mark 11:22-23). What we SAY and BELIEVE is what we get. It works in the positive and in the negative. The mountain represents any problem we may be facing. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith in Him. (Hebrews 12:2). As we hear with our spirit ears, faith persuades the mind, the mind of our spirit. Faith speaks, and battles are won.
