30 Years of Extra-Good Burgers

Keith's Hamburger Station

In 1982, pep bands were just starting to introduce the hit songs “Physical” and “Eye of the Tiger” into their repertoire. Pep bands, athletes and coaches alike soon learned that the newly opened Keith’s Hamburger Station was the best place to stop for the World’s Best Steak Fingers, chicken-fried steaks, old-fashioned hamburgers, and hand-dipped malts and shakes.

In 2011 Keith’s Hamburger Station was once again honored by the Best of the Permian Basin Readers’ Choice poll for Best Steak Fingers and Best Chicken Fried Steak.

Located at 4324 Andrews Highway, just across the way from the Coliseum, Keith’s Hamburger Station is a favorite stopping place for locals, returning college students and visitors during special events such as the Ector County Fair, the SandHills Stock Show and Rodeo and the oil show.

Regulars enjoy their daily lunch special consisting of homemade steak fingers or chicken strips, fries and a drink. Salads, including grilled, crispy or fajita chicken salad, shrimp salad and dinner salad are also available.

Those of us who just can’t get enough beef can try a steak finger salad.

“Just something a little bit different,” said owner Keith Johnson.

On any given day, Keith can be found in the kitchen covered with flour. Though he won’t give away trade secrets, Keith attributes the Hamburger Station’s success to the grace of God and the good people of the Permian Basin.

Keith’s Hamburger Station understands that, for some, finding the money to dine out can be difficult. In order to help seniors and families save on their food costs, daily specials  for these groups have been added to the menu.

“We want to help the community since the community has supported us and kept us in business for 30 years,” Keith said.

In addition to the restaurant and drive-through, Keith’s Hamburger Station offers catering. For groups of 25 or more people, they provide such delicacies as old-fashioned hamburgers, homemade steak fingers, chicken strips, or your request made to order anywhere that needs their distinctive flavor on the go. Keith’s Hamburger Station proudly cooks its food cholesterol and trans-fat free.

Open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Keith’s Hamburger Station is the perfect lunch stop for working men and women. The restaurant is kept scrupulously clean, and service is quick, polite and efficient — fast food was never like this.

And, if you’re really on the go, you can take advantage of the drive-through window.
