  • The Black Cultural Council of Odessa has scheduled its 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. celebration week with the following events. Saturday: 7 p.m., “A Night to Remember” talent show at Blackshear Magnet School, 501 S. Dixie Blvd. Admission is $3. Sunday: 3 p.m., Gospel Celebration at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1000 W. Clements St with the Rev. Ray D. Hicks of Bethlehem Baptist Church as speaker. Admission is free. Monday: 6 a.m., King Breakfast and 6:30 a.m. program at Odessa Regional Medical Center Community Room, 515 Adams St. The Rev. Timothy McNeil of St. James Baptist Church will be the speaker. Admission is free. Monday: 11 a.m. King’s Rally at Southside Senior Citizens Center Parking Lot, 900 S. Dixie Blvd with Shawn Pierces of Permian High School as guest speaker. Admission is free. Monday: Freedom March line-up will be at 11:45 a.m. and the march will begin at noon at the Southside Senior Citizens Center Parking Lot, 900 S. Dixie Blvd. Admission is free but everyone is responsible for their own signs. Prize will be given to the group with the highest number of participants. Monday: Odessa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Candlelight Vigil will be held immediately following the Freedom March at Woodson Community Center, 1000 E.   • MIDLAND The Permian Basin Poetry Society has scheduled a Texas-ku (Haiku) Workshop at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ground Floor Coffee Shop, 203 W, Wall St. #104, Midland. Open Mic Night will follow at 7 p.m.
  • The Odessa Art Association has scheduled its monthly meeting at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the Ellen Noël Art Museum Classroom, 4909 E. University Blvd. Letha Hooper, collections coordinator and registrar at the museum, will present the program. Visitors are welcome.
  • MARFA Ballroom Marfa has scheduled their Autobody Film Program at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at Crowley Theatre in Marfa. Short films will include Matthew Barney’s “Hoist,” Claude Lelouch's “C’était un Rendezvous,” and Kevin Jerome Everson's “The Prichard,” followed by Everson's feature, “Cinnamon.” This event is free and open to the public.   • The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, 4901 E.
