John Robert Dorr

PECOS John Robert Dorr, 70, of Pecos, Texas died Monday, June 29, 2009. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the First Christian Church in Pecos at 10 a.m. with Rev. Clark Ford presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos.

John R. Dorr was born Aug. 25, 1938, in Pecos, Texas. He graduated from St. Edward's School in Austin, Texas in 1956 and went on to become a member of the inaugural Petroleum Land Management program offered at Oklahoma University, graduating with a B.A. in Business from OU. After college, John served in the Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph Dorr and Dorothy Ulrich Dorr.

John is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Sue Prendergast Dorr; four children, their son, John Joseph Dorr, II of Midland; their daughter, Dede Sue Helen Dorr Allen of Allen, Texas; their son, John Robert Dorr, Jr. and wife, Nora Danielle, of Midland; their daughter, Jan Elizabeth Dorr, of Boca Raton, Florida; five grandchildren, Jacob Austin Dorr, Emily Madison Dorr, Katelyn Sydney Dorr, and John Robert Dorr III, all of Midland; and Natalie Sue Allen, of Allen, Texas; his sister, Helen Josephine Dorr Creath, of Austin; his brother-in-law, John Lents Prendergast, and wife Sondra Gayle, of Bartlesville, Okla.; two nieces and three nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Pecos Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to the Homes of St. Mark, 3000 Richmond Ave., Suite 570, Houston, Texas, 77098, or a charity of your choice.

Active Pallbearers: Mike Canon, Philip Houser, Bob Hughes, Allen McGuire, Fred Pearce, David Rogers, John Stuart, Don Weinacht and 12 honorary pallbearers.
