Now is the time to start summer brick repairs

Finding a skilled mason to complete brickwork, whether for repair or remodeling, is crucial.

It is well known that George Rood Masonry, with many years of providing superior masonry in Odessa, is the right one for the job.
George Rood, who was 17 years old and fresh out of high school when he entered the business, has a total of 41 years of experience and 29 years as a business owner. "It just stuck," he says.

Before beginning a project, Rood makes sure his customers have all the information they need to make decisions by taking time to discuss all the details of a project such as layouts and floor plans.

"I will go out to customers' homes, give them free estimates, help lay the job out and show them all their possible options," Rood says.

Through the years, block fences and replacement of rotted brick in homes have become specialties of George Rood Masonry. "We deal a lot with rotting brick. All around Odessa people have problems with it. By the time they finally realize it, the problem has been going on for 10 years," Rood says. "Also, summer will be here soon and there's loss of cooling through the rotting areas."

According to Rood, people do not usually notice the damaged brick until they are trying to sell their home and they have to fix it. At that time, home realtors usually recommend Rood.

The public should know that rotting brick can be easily replaced at a reasonable price, according to Rood. Many customers do not realize this, and a response he hears often is, "If I had known that it was this easy and that you could do it, I would have called you years ago."

Besides, having these repairs done now, before cold winter weather hits, will help keep a home warmer and utility bills lower.

George Rood Masonry's other specialty is building block fences that are strong, sturdy and built to last. "This is partially due to a trend that I started in Odessa," Rood says.

That trend is to build columns into the fences about every 20 feet."Before I came here and started doing it, no one had really used columns before," he adds. "It keeps fences from cracking and falling over."

In addition to experienced and specialized brick services, George Rood also works alongside his crew on each job. If he is there, George says, he knows that everything is going well and can ensure that customers receive the quality they deserve.

"Most of the time, I am the only brick layer," Rood says. "That way, I know the work is being done right."

If you need an experienced mason who offers quality work at an affordable price, call George Rood Masonry at (432) 362-1030.
