CRANE Charles Passur, 92, of Crane, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at the Crane Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008, at the Crane County Cemetery with Paul Stern officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

Mr. Passur was born on December 19, 1915, in Ballinger, Texas, to Nathan and Bertha Rosenwasser Passur. Charlie graduated from Crane High School in 1934 where he was the Salutatorian of his class, and was also a graduate of Draughn's Business College. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the 5th Division, 3rd in Italy, as well as North Africa. He was a Staff Sergeant. Charlie was the 2nd person from Crane to be drafted. He was co-owner the T & P Clothiers; a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the Eastern Star and the American Legion. He was also a charter member of the Crane Noon Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Passur on February 14, 2005.

Survivors include his two sisters, Helen Tobin and her husband, Bob of Crane and Evelyn Stern of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews, Lanie Hill of Crane, Natalie Hill of Los Angeles, California, Susan Chisum and Brittany Chisum, both of Chicago, Illinois, Paul and Barbara Stern and A.J. Stern and Jacob Stern, all of Houston.
