Ector County commissioners cracking down

THE STORY: Ector County commissioners are preparing to start cracking down on “no shows” at the county’s employee wellness center.

Human resources director Pat Patton told commissioners at their meeting Monday morning that they’d had one employee fail to show up for nine appointments since the health clinic opened in August 2008. And others have missed as many as seven appointments.

County Judge Susan Redford said they need to study how places like Midland County and elsewhere deal with them and discuss it further at their Nov. 23 meeting.

I say let them make the appointment and then dock their paycheck when they don’t show up. Won’t take too many paycheck dockings to make believers out of them.”

It is hard to get an appointment at the wellness clinic and then when you do get in, there is usually no Doctor. I just go to my regular Doctor and pay out of pocket (Because our deductables are too high). Besides the fact that I have to pay $200 a month just to have insurance.”

That price goes up when you don’t show up for an appointment YOU made. And when the price goes up, we taxpayers become unhappy and we WILL talk to our County Commissioners about cutting funds available to the Wellness Center because they are being foolishly wasted by the county employees. So it’s very simple. Use it or lose it. And we mean it.
