Joaquin Jackson, a Texas Ranger for 27 years and author, will speak on his life with Rangers and his memoir “One Ranger.” Call 332-8221.

>> The Association of Volunteer Professionals has scheduled workshops and training at the following dates and locations.

Aug: 15: Noon to 1 p.m., at the CEED Building. Topic: Volunteer Leadership 2007 Certification Program: How to Kill Team Building Before You Even Start: The four deadly sins of icebreakers. Participants will need to bring their own lunch and network.

Oct. 17: Noon to 1 p.m., at the CEED Building. Topic: Volunteer Leadership 2007 Certification Program — One Minute Answers To Volunteer Management. Participants will need to bring their own lunch and network.

Dec: 19: Noon to 1 p.m., at the CEED Building. Topic: Volunteer Leadership 2007 Certification Program — Party with a Purpose. Participants will need to bring their own lunch and network.

>> MIDLAND Comanche Trails Wood Turners has scheduled a meeting from 10 a.m. to noon July 14 at George Hancock’s Shop, 1709 Clark St.

John Horn will be a visiting demonstrator of Fort Worth. Horn is a nationally known entertainer and wood turner. He will demonstrate three methods to turn end grain wood.

Event is open to the public.
