NUGGETS: Let us be thankful of all God's blessings

We have just experienced one of the most wonderful times of the year, a time of being thankful to the Lord for the land we live in.

Thinking back to the first settlers and envisioning the hardships they must have experienced as they cut new trails, ultimately for you and me. They were breaking through with all kinds of hardships, that this nation could be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

From the conception of this place of freedom, evil men have tried with no avail to take that freedom away from us. Many have given their lives that you and I could live with the freedom of choice, as long as our choice did not take free choice from others. We have so much to be thankful for.

The reason no other country could take our freedom has been that we have always been “One Nation Under God.”

“Thou shall have no other gods before Me” (Deuteronomy 5:7). We have always “stood with Israel” Talking of Israel, God said “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you (Genesis 12:3).

We, as a nation, have always been the peace makers. We help all nations to be free or keep freedom. “Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9).

America has been the nation who has sent out evangelist to all the world. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

When something works for over 200 years, why would we want to change it?  I have been taught all my life, if something isn’t broke, don’t fix it.  We allowed prayer to be taken out of school, and crime has increased a big, big percentage. We have killed babies for years and now we don’t have enough workers to keep social security going. No telling how many doctors, scientist and inventors has been aborted.  By the way, it is written “Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous for I will not justify the wicked” (Exodus 23: 7). No one is more innocent than an unborn baby.

The poorest person in the United States is rich, measured by most of the third world countries. Two thirds of the world goes to bed hungry, cold or wet every night. Many of those countries have turned their backs on the One True God. They have chosen other gods, turned against Israel, shed innocent blood and now it has caught up with them; God is not mocked. Let us not be a nation that follows in their footsteps. Evil runs rampant because good men do nothing.

One of the main reasons God was angry with Israel when He brought them out of the bondage of Egypt, was that they were unthankful and they didn’t remember what He had done for them.

In this time we have set aside for thanksgiving, Let us be mindful of what a wonderful God we have and give Him thanks with true appreciation of allowing us to be born in this wonderful nation.  May we be determined to keep God on our side that our freedom will never be taken away from us. Let’s be thankful and remember all the blessings and goodness we have received from The One and only True God.
