>> ck6289: The sad part of this is that after CPS and CASA do their homework, this child will probably return to his mother. She will be required to do certain things, i.e. anger management classes, be restricted to weekly supervised visits, etc. When she complies to the courts satisfaction, she will more than likely get her child back. A lot of children in foster care are faced with more trauma than they deserve. They are taken away from abusive, neglectful parents only to be returned to the same situations, removed again, and 3 months later are placed back in the abusive home. It's a vicious cycle these abused children go through. I say, once they are removed for abuse, neglect, etc. They shouldn't be subjected to these parents any more. They had their chance and screwed it up. The children pay the ultimate price for bad choices/decisions parents make and it makes the children worse for wear.
How would you feel if you were taken away from your parents and sent to a foster home, then sent back to your parents, were abused again and over and over again moved from home to home?? It is a travesty to these children that our foster care system is solely focused on reunification of these families. There may be some cases where reunification is justified, but there are so many cases that are not. We need to stand up for these children, they are our future and if all they know is abuse, what kind of citizens will they turn out to be?

>> paladin56: Hell,I got whippings(Beat.)with belts, switches, shoes, paddles and hand's when I was growing up. It was ok back then. My first whipping was with a fly-swatter at the age of four years, of course they didn't hit very hard until I was older. I sure respected my dad and said yes sir, or no sir to my elders.
I do agree with you guys, three years old is way too young to be hitting with a belt. But, some teens need a good smack now and then.

>> monkey09: The judge does what CPS recommends. PERIOD!! They do not do what is in the best interest of the children. Go watch a few CPS hearings and you will see what I am talking about and they jump on the chance to pass hearings off on other judges whenever possible, which only delays things even more.
